Drop is for a show or movie you have stopped watching. A dropped title leaves Up Next and is left out of what Plekt pushes to your media apps, while its watch dates, play counts, and resume progress stay exactly as they were.
Works on
| App | Works | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Plex | Yes | The title is hidden from Continue Watching. |
| Emby | Yes | The title is hidden from Continue Watching (Resume). |
| Jellyfin | Partly | Plekt stops listing the title, but an entry already on Next Up can stay visible. |
| Trakt | Shows only | Drop syncs both ways for shows. Movies stay local. |
| Simkl | Yes, with limits | Drop moves the title to Simkl’s Dropped list and Un-drop restores its earlier list. A movie in Watching counts as watched, so Un-drop always returns movies to Plan to Watch. A title that was Completed before the drop is held rather than moved back. Simkl changes wait for the next watch or media-server event. |
Why it differs. Plex and Emby each have a separate hide for their rail. Jellyfin has no hide that keeps resume progress, so Plekt cannot remove what is already on Next Up. Plekt syncs a drop to Trakt for shows only, and Simkl’s list rules limit what Un-drop can safely put back.
Drop a title
- On an Up Next card, open More options and choose Drop.
- On a movie or show page, use Drop in the page actions.
Plekt saves the drop first. It then asks Plex and Emby to hide the matching rail entry. If an app refuses, the drop still stands and Plekt reports the failure instead of reversing it.
Drops sync to Trakt and Simkl separately for each Plekt user, using that user’s own connection. If a write to Trakt or Simkl fails, Plekt tries that title again after an hour. A new drop or Un-drop is sent straight away instead of waiting, and two Plekt processes do not send the same change at once.
Bring a title back
Choose Un-drop from the same menus, or from the Dropped only view below. Un-drop makes the title eligible for Up Next again but does not force an app’s rail entry back into view; the next normal playback or app refresh does that.
A completed live play dated after the drop also restores the title on its own. Played flags, imports, history backfills, and tracker pulls do not.
Find dropped titles
- History, Movies, and TV Shows each have a Dropped only control. It lists dropped titles, including ones with no watch history, and follows the page’s search and media type.
- Stats shows a separate Dropped count, labelled all time regardless of the period you pick.
Drop or remove?
Remove from Up Next is a “not now” choice that can undo itself when newer playback arrives, and it is tracked in the Dismissed Up Next list. Drop is for a title you are done with. See Remove and restore.
